Designing and developing a responsive website from scratch using Webflow
UA HUB is a Ukrainian community-centered non-profit project based in Vancouver with the main aim of supporting immigrant entrepreneurs and professionals in their journey from ideas to sustainable growth.
To identify the target audience, I participated in a brainstorming session with the UA HUB team. Together, we defined the core user needs for the initial MVP version:
1. A hero section with a prominent CTA for registration, encouraging collaboration with UA HUB.
2. A directory of Ukrainian businesses, complete with filters and a keyword search for easy navigation.
3. An events section, including a dedicated area for UA HUB-hosted events.
During the ideation phase, I created low-fidelity wireframes for the website to outline blueprints for future web pages.
After further discussion, we came to the decision to add to the home page section “About Us” and categorize businesses to enhance site navigation. Taking to consideration new suggestions and following UA HUB’s brand book, I developed UI design for the website.
After receiving client approval, I proceeded with the design implementation using the Relume and Webflow builder platforms. During implementation, I reviewed and adjusted design elements to make it fully responsible across devices and browsers, and made refinements as needed to ensure optimal functionality.
The business directory could use better categorization and filtering to make it easier to find specific services.
Right now, businesses and event organizers submit their info manually. A proper submission form with an easy way for admins to review and approve listings would save a lot of time and keep the site updated more efficiently.
Adding user accounts would be a game-changer. Businesses could manage their listings, and users could save their favourite services or events.
